Pocket Hardware - GPS & PND Devices
for Anquet
There are two types of device:
- PND devices for Pocket Anquet
These allow the transfer of maps and routes to units
called PND (Personal Navigation Devices). These are the emerging breed
of PDA and mobile phones with inbuilt GPS technology. They not only
support Pocket Anquet but also support other applications such as TomTom,
multimedia and internet browsing.
- GPS Devices
These are the traditional but dedicated outdoor units. They allow Anquet
v1/v06 to exchange routes,
waypoints & tracks with them
but not maps. These GPS devices may have inbuilt vector (line drawn)
maps which range in quality and detail and are usually not as rich as
Ordnance Survey raster (pictorial) maps.
Most outdoor users plan their routes on Anquet v06 and then transfer the
route (and maps if using Pocket Anquet) to the above devices. Planning on
the PC gives a wider view of your map to make planning routes across
distances more satisfying and enjoyable. You are also able to download
routes from the internet or Anquet's database.
